- The Pestonjee Bomanjee leaving London 21 May 1838. Medium sized ship of approx. 600 tons, one of several former Indiamen used for emigration, was named after an Indian naval architect, bought 260 souls, plus crew, on board. Including passenger Lieutenant Colonel G. Gawler, Governor-Elect of South Australia, on his way to the new colony to take up his position, and whose contingent included his wife and children, personal secretary Mr Hall, and servants.)
